Andrew Ahn is directing the remake of Ang Lee's 1993 romantic comedy The Wedding Banquet.

While Lily Gladstone and Bowen Yang are among the leading roles of the film, Kelly Marie Tran, Joan Chen, Yuh-jung Youn are among the cast. Lily Gladstone and Kelly Marie Tran will play a romantic couple in the movie.

The film's story is described as an intimate re-imagining of The Wedding Banquet. Ang Lee is quite happy about the remake. Here is his statement: “It warms my heart to see how my film from so many years ago has inspired a new generation to reimagine a new and different version. “I look forward to seeing what Andrew Ahn and his wonderful cast create.”

The original film was about two close friends who organize a fake wedding, one to get a Green Card and the other to cover the expenses of his wife's in vitro fertilization treatment, and the events get complicated with the extravagant wedding prepared by their families.

The movie will begin filming next month in Vancouver.
